Privacy Policy

WWT has no user accounts, no passwords, and no sign-up. We do not operate a server that stores your watchlists, and there is no database anywhere in which you have a record with us.

Your watchlists, ratings, watched history, episode progress and settings sync between your own devices using your personal iCloud account, through Apple's CloudKit private database. That data is held under your Apple Account, governed by Apple's privacy policy. The developer of WWT cannot read it, cannot enumerate it, and receives no copy of it.

The app does not use location services. Your region is read from your device's own locale setting; no location permission is requested and no positioning API is used.

Four things, each for a specific job.

Search text you type goes to The Movie Database (TMDB), to find matching titles, and is kept per TMDB's policy.

The URL of a post you share in goes to WWT's relay server, to read its caption or transcript and find titles in it, and is kept up to 30 days.

Purchase receipt and device identifier go to Apple and RevenueCat, to confirm an active subscription, and are kept per RevenueCat's policy.

Advertising identifiers and ad interactions go to Google AdMob, to show ads on the free tier, and are kept per Google's policy.

Your watchlists and ratings go to your iCloud only, and you control them.

Searching for titles. Text you type into search is sent to TMDB to return matching movies and shows. No account identifier is attached to the request, because there is no account.

Importing from a shared post. When you share a post into WWT, the post's URL is sent to WWT's own relay server. The relay asks the originating platform for that post's caption — and, when a caption alone finds nothing, its audio transcript — and extracts any film or show titles mentioned in it.

The relay caches its results. Extraction results are stored for up to 30 days, and title suggestions for up to 14 days, so that the same post shared again does not have to be fetched and processed a second time. This makes repeat imports faster and reduces cost.

Two things about that cache matter for your privacy: it is keyed by the post's own URL, and no identifier for you or your device is ever sent to the relay. The cache therefore records that a given public post was processed — not who processed it, or when you personally did. Nothing in it links back to you.

Subscriptions. Purchases are handled by Apple. Subscription status is managed through RevenueCat, which receives a device identifier and your purchase history in order to tell the app whether a subscription is active. WWT never sees or handles your payment details.

Advertising. WWT's free tier shows banner ads through Google AdMob. Pro subscribers see no ads at all, and no ad requests are made for them.

Whether those ads are personalized depends on the choice you made when the app asked for permission to track. If you declined, ads are non-personalized. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

Google's advertising SDK collects more than the app itself does. As declared in its own privacy manifest, this includes a device identifier used for tracking, coarse location, advertising data, interaction with ads, and crash, performance and other diagnostic data. These are collected by Google under Google's privacy policy, not by us.

Everything you have saved — delete the app, and delete its data from iCloud in iOS Settings > your name > iCloud > Manage Account Storage. Because we hold no copy, that removes it.

Ad personalization — change your tracking choice in iOS Settings, as above.

Relay cache — entries expire on their own within 30 days and contain nothing identifying you, so there is nothing of yours to request the deletion of. If you want a specific cached post purged sooner, contact us with its URL.

Subscription data — contact us and we will request its deletion from RevenueCat.

Depending on where you live you may have rights to access, correct, export or delete personal data, and to object to certain processing. Since we hold almost none, most such requests are answered by the paragraphs above — but write to us and we will help.
